Round on Patients at an External Location Using Haiku

Seeing a patient away from a Freeman site? Haiku on your phone lets you find the patient, create an encounter in your home department, write the note, drop the charge, and sign the visit.

Haiku not set up yet? Start with Haiku setup. Tap a step to jump to it; the screens advance on their own otherwise.

1. Find your patient

Tap More

Open the Haiku app and tap the three dots (More).

Tap Search

Tap Search.

Search for the patient

Search for your patient's name.

2. Create an encounter

Start the encounter from the patient's chart, in your home department.

Open Notes Entry

In the patient's chart, select Notes Entry from the bottom toolbar.

Tap the pencil

Select the pencil icon in the top right.

Pick your home department

Search for your home department.

3. Document your encounter

Write the note, drop the charge with its diagnosis, then sign the visit.

Write the note

Document your note. When finished, tap the top right to pend or sign.

Open Charges

Scroll along the bottom toolbar to find Charges, then tap Add.

Add Charges opens on a list of charges. Tap the search icon to look one up.

Drop the CPT code

Drop the appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code for your visit. You can search by the code.

Pending charge

The charge is pending, with no diagnosis yet. Tap it to edit.

Associate a diagnosis

Associate a diagnosis under Diagnoses.

Charge details

Further down: department, place of service, bill area, and the service and billing providers.

Place of Service

Place of Service can be searched by name, for example a nursing facility.

With the diagnosis associated, tap File when complete.

Sign the visit

Use the bottom toolbar to scroll to Sign Visit when complete.
